FISHING FUN FOR LIFE
SHARING ALL THIS FUN
This fishing 'clinic' is about sharing experiences. Because I am unusually lucky.
I am now 60 and have been having amazing fun going fishing for over 50 years already. That's half a century! but seems like just a few years of catching and releasing hundreds of thousands of fish and getting 'busted-off' by angry predators more than I've ever caught or even seen.
ENJOYING NATURE'S GIFT
I've been there for serene sunrises, stunning sunsets, several cyclones and even a Tsunami. In tiny creeks and mangroves, caught malaria and dengue fever; up and down countless rivers, estuaries, beaches and reefs. Fished wrecks, sea mounts and canyons in tropical destinations as diverse as Australia's Great Barrier Reef, Hawaii, Florida, New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Fiji, Whitsunday Islands, the last decade in Thailand and have now finally fishing the extraordinary archipelago containing the Andaman and Nicobar islands off mainland India.
I guess that's why it's taken a long time...
WHILE I CAN REMEMBER
So before my human 'computer' of a mind gets completely sun-dried I want to share whatever I can with others who also share the great love of being amongst our rich and diverse marine wonderland.
IT'S HAS TO BE DONE
Fishing to me is about sharing. The more that's shared, the more likely it will be that all the collective knowledge will benefit the future. We need that desperately. And now. The marine world is in deep trouble. Most waters are being destroyed every minute, most by lack of knowledge or care. And by greed.
The old notion of keeping 'fishing secrets' is simply bullshit. That's for the ego freaks.
INSPIRATION
Another love inspires me to all this. I have 3 sons.
'Drew' is not a fishing fanatic, but enjoys going. Rather he is sensitive to the beauty and importance and preservation of this natural phenomena. A good guy.
'Trent' is the quintessential fanatical fisherman and all the years of him
telling me how little I know about fishing has kept me hungry for learning.
He is a super angler and conservationist.
And 'Sam' is a great loss to fishing. At just nearing teenage years he can drive and putt a golf ball with the accuracy of a GPS. If he loved lure casting instead of golf, he'd be awesome. At least he uses me as a caddy.
As I said, I'm unusually lucky.
WHERE TO START
I am now in sympathy with writers. It is not easy trying to chronicle a 50 year period of personal fishing adventures. What is relevant to another angler to-day? And what is interesting, informative, exciting or just plain boring?
The fishing articles I'm starting now are confined to offshore fishing and will be as short as possible to give a 'window' on the subject. There is so much more to include but I could be accused of 'too much information'.
Any part that interests you and is not sufficiently detailed; write or call me and I'll be happy to expand on the area you like.
So let's get fishing and sharing before we can only look at angling videos of how it was back in 'the old days'.
